Brutal DOOM - Infinite Chaos Multiworld Setup Guide

Brutal DOOM - Infinite Chaos uses its own launcher, AP Brutal DOOM - IC Launcher. Do not use the older AP DOOM launcher for this world.

What You Need

  • A Windows 10 or newer PC.
  • A legal copy of DOOM.WAD and DOOM2.WAD.
  • The APBDIC launcher zip from this page.
  • Brutal DOOM v22 Test 6: brutal22test6.pk3.
  • Corruption Cards v6.3b: CorruptionCards-v6.3b.pk3.
  • Any supported map packs you selected for your YAML.
  • The Archipelago server address, slot name, and password if the room has one.

Do not share IWADs, PK3s, or commercial game files. Every player must provide their own copies.

Install The Launcher

  1. Download APBDIC-Launcher.zip from the Brutal DOOM - Infinite Chaos game page.

  2. Create a permanent folder for the launcher. The recommended folder is:

    C:\Brutal DOOM - Infinite Chaos

  3. Extract the entire zip into that folder.

  4. Run AP Brutal DOOM - IC Launcher.exe.

Do not run the launcher directly from inside the zip file. The launcher expects to create and update folders next to the .exe.

After extraction, the launcher folder should contain the launcher executable and an assets folder. The launcher will create additional folders and config files as needed.

Open Settings

In the launcher, open Settings. Set or confirm these folder paths:

  • UZ DOOM Folder: where uzdoom.exe and the UZ DOOM engine files will live.
  • IWAD Folder: where DOOM.WAD and DOOM2.WAD will live.
  • PK3 Folder: where Brutal DOOM, Corruption Cards, and apbdic-control.pk3 will live.
  • WAD Folder: where supported custom map packs will live.
  • APBDIC Launcher Folder: the folder containing the launcher .exe.

If you used the recommended install folder, these should normally point under:

C:\Brutal DOOM - Infinite Chaos\UZDoom

Essential Files

The Essential Files section in Settings checks the files required before the launcher can reliably start maps.

UZ DOOM

Use the launcher install button:

  1. In Settings, find UZ DOOM under Essential Files.
  2. Click Install.
  3. Wait for the log to say the install finished.

The launcher downloads UZ DOOM 4.14.3 and extracts the required files into the configured UZ DOOM Folder.

DOOM.WAD And DOOM2.WAD

These are commercial IWAD files. The launcher cannot download them for you.

Recommended Steam method:

  1. Buy and install DOOM + DOOM II on Steam.
  2. Launch Steam at least once after installing so the files exist locally.
  3. In the launcher Settings, find DOOM.WAD under Essential Files.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Repeat for DOOM2.WAD.

The launcher searches your Steam libraries and copies the IWADs into the configured IWAD Folder.

If the Steam search fails, copy the files manually into the IWAD Folder:

C:\Brutal DOOM - Infinite Chaos\UZDoom\IWAD\DOOM.WAD
C:\Brutal DOOM - Infinite Chaos\UZDoom\IWAD\DOOM2.WAD

Brutal DOOM And Corruption Cards

These PK3s must be downloaded manually.

  1. In Settings, find Brutal DOOM v22 Test 6.
  2. Click Manual Install to open the download page.
  3. Download the file containing brutal22test6.pk3.
  4. Extract or copy brutal22test6.pk3 into the configured PK3 Folder.
  5. In Settings, find Corruption Cards v6.3b.
  6. Click Manual Install to open the download page.
  7. Download the file containing CorruptionCards-v6.3b.pk3.
  8. Extract or copy CorruptionCards-v6.3b.pk3 into the configured PK3 Folder.

With the recommended folder layout, the final paths should be:

C:\Brutal DOOM - Infinite Chaos\UZDoom\PK3\brutal22test6.pk3
C:\Brutal DOOM - Infinite Chaos\UZDoom\PK3\CorruptionCards-v6.3b.pk3

The APBDIC Control PK3 is included with the launcher package. It should appear as installed automatically. If it is missing, re-extract the launcher zip.

Supported WADs

The Supported WADs section in Settings lists the custom map packs supported by the launcher.

For supported WADs, use the launcher install button whenever possible:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll to Supported WADs.
  3. Click Install for each map pack you want to use.
  4. Wait for the log to finish before starting another install.

The launcher downloads the map pack zip from an idgames mirror, extracts the required .wad files, and places them in the configured WAD Folder.

Some supported entries install more than one file because the music pack or second data file is required. For example:

  • Hell Revealed installs hr.wad and hrmus.wad.
  • BTSX E1 installs btsx_e1a.wad and btsx_e1b.wad.
  • BTSX E2 installs btsx_e2a.wad and btsx_e2b.wad.
  • TNT 2 installs tnt2_1_2.wad and tnt2bmus.wad.

The new supported packs use these main files:

  • Hellbound installs Hellbnd.wad. The optional HBFM29.wad variant is not used by APBDIC.
  • Realm of Chaos (25AE) installs RoC25.wad. The optional RoC25_uwide.wad add-on is not required.
  • Simulacrum installs Simulacrum.wad.
  • Sunder uses Sunder 2512.wad.

Sunder's official OneDrive share does not provide a stable automated download URL. Use Manual Install for Sunder, download Sunder 2512.zip, and copy Sunder 2512.wad into the WAD folder shown below. The other three packs support the normal automatic Install button.

If an automatic WAD install fails, use Manual Install, download the zip yourself, then copy the expected .wad files into:

C:\Brutal DOOM - Infinite Chaos\UZDoom\WAD

Generate A YAML

  1. Open the launcher's YAML Generator view.
  2. Enter your player name exactly as it should appear in the Archipelago room.
  3. Select the WADs you want included in the game.
  4. Generate the YAML.
  5. Upload that YAML with the other players' YAMLs when creating the room.

Every WAD selected in the YAML should also be installed locally in your launcher before you connect and play.

Connect To A Room

  1. Open Settings.
  2. In Connect, enter the server address, slot name, and password if required.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. When connected, the launcher receives the generated board from the Archipelago room and creates the local run folder.
  5. Return to the grid view and play from the launcher.

Launch maps through the APBDIC launcher, not by starting UZ DOOM directly. The launcher passes inventory, cards, scoring, and map state to UZ DOOM for the selected tile.

Troubleshooting

  • If a file still shows Missing, confirm the matching folder path in Settings.
  • If DOOM.WAD or DOOM2.WAD will not install from Steam, copy them manually into the IWAD Folder.
  • If a PK3 still shows Missing, confirm the filename is exactly brutal22test6.pk3 or CorruptionCards-v6.3b.pk3.
  • If a selected map pack is missing, install it from Supported WADs or copy its .wad files into the WAD Folder.
  • If UZ DOOM launches without APBDIC behavior, make sure apbdic-control.pk3 is installed in the PK3 Folder.
