Overview
Metroid Prime Archipelago
Explore Tallon IV as part of an Archipelago multiworld. Every suit upgrade and expansion can be shuffled, including items sent by or destined for your friends.
Supported game
This world supports official GameCube releases of Metroid Prime, including all NTSC-U revisions, PAL, Japanese, and Korean releases. Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii and Metroid Prime Remastered for Switch are not supported.
You will need:
- A legally obtained Metroid Prime GameCube ISO.
- A current Dolphin Emulator release.
- The self-contained Metroid Prime APWorld available from this page.
- The
.apmp1patch generated for your player slot.
See the Setup Guide for installation, generation, patching, and connection instructions. Use Player Options for a straightforward settings form and YAML export, or Advanced Options for weighted settings.
Goal
Your configured goal can require collecting the chosen number of Chozo Artifacts and defeating Meta Ridley, Metroid Prime, both bosses, or neither boss. If the goal is randomized, scan the Temple Security station to see it in-game.
What is randomized
- Suit upgrades, beams, visors, Morph Ball upgrades, missile expansions, Energy Tanks, Power Bomb expansions, and Artifacts.
- Optional Missile Launcher and Main Power Bomb unlock items.
- Optional starting room and starting beam randomization.
- Optional elevators, door colors, and blast shields.
- Logic difficulty, individual movement tricks, and combat requirements.
- Optional suit and HUD colors.
Power Suit and Combat Visor remain available from the beginning. Items belonging to other players appear as themed progression, useful, or filler models.
Quality-of-life changes
- The Frigate introduction is skipped and the player begins in the selected starting room.
- Spring Ball can be enabled and used with C-Stick Up after Morph Ball Bombs are acquired.
- Several one-way or sequence-sensitive rooms are adjusted to support reverse traversal.
- A save-station shortcut can return you to the starting room: choose No at the save prompt while holding L and R.
- Items checked while connected are retained by the Archipelago server after a death or reset, even if the in-game map dot has not been saved.
Compatibility notes
A clean ISO and the latest standard Dolphin release are recommended. PrimeHack and widescreen HUD modifications have been reported to work by some players but are not the primary supported configuration. Practice Mod is not compatible with the client connection.
